All About Proper Deck Framing

A half-day workshop specially tailored for home inspectors, building officials, contractors, architects, and residential deck designers. Information is focused on structural code requirements for construction of outdoor wood decks. This workshop provides a detailed review of the structural code requirements for decks based on the International Residential Code (IRC), International Building Code (IBC) and National Design Specification (NDS) for Wood Construction guidelines, followed by an overview of Simpson Strong-Tie products developed to satisfy these requirements at the lowest installed cost.
Our speaker is Mike Wright, Territory Representative for Simpson Strong-Tie. Mike oversees all aspects of the Simpson Strong-Tie product line for customers and public agencies in the region of the Northern Bay Area and Redwood Coast. Mike has studied extensively regarding the building of decks and exterior structures, including current and future building codes, design requirements and practices, corrosion of metal products when in contact with pressure preservative treated wood and high exposure environments, and installation requirements for the many products used in the construction of decks.

A half-day workshop specially tailored to both novice and experienced construction professionals. This workshop begins with a review of common roofing errors and wear profiles leading to failure of all basic roofing types, and progresses to high tech membrane systems including SBS and APP modified bitumen roofing, Duralast, PVC, EPDM single-ply roofing, Sprayed Polyurethane Foam roofing, and other high-tech materials coming into common usage.
Our speaker is Roger Robinson, past president of the California Real Estate Inspection Association and the Golden Gate Chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors. He has inspected residential and commercial properties for the over 29 years, is an international speaker and inspection trainer, and has pursued traditional and high-tech roofing as a special area of interest and expertise for the past 20 years.Earn three (3) ASHI CEs.
